Our flagship summer Spanish immersion program is offered in two 30-night sessions — Early Summer and Late Summer — with each session made up of two consecutive 15-night courses. You can join us for one 15-night half-program, or stay for the complete 30-night session, with each option offering a carefully structured combination of Spanish lessons, cultural immersion, excursions and opportunities to use Spanish throughout your stay.

Our Flagship Summer Spanish Immersion Programs
Our Early Summer and Late Summer programs follow the same two-part format: El Explorador and Los Aztecas. Each 30-night session begins with El Explorador and continues with Los Aztecas, creating a complete month-long Spanish immersion experience. The two 15-night courses are also available independently, so you can join El Explorador or Los Aztecas without committing to the full month. The program includes Spanish classes, Mexican cultural activities and excursions designed to give you a broad experience of language, culture and life in Mexico.

Choose 15 or 30 Nights of Summer Spanish Immersion
Whether you have two weeks or a full month to spend in Mexico, we have an option to suit you. El Explorador and Los Aztecas are each available as 15-night programs, while students who want the fullest possible immersion can stay for an entire 30-night session, combining both courses. You can choose between our Early Summer or Late Summer session, or contact us if you’d like to discuss the best option for your dates. Students who complete a full 30-night session receive $500 off the combined price of the two 15-night programs, making it our best-value option for those able to stay longer.

The Summer Spanish Immersion Program is Iguana Abroad’s flagship Spanish immersion course in Mexico. It combines daily Spanish classes with cultural activities, Mexican meals, weekend excursions, accommodation and opportunities to use Spanish throughout your stay in Cuernavaca.
The complete summer program lasts 30 nights. Students can also choose to attend for 15 nights by joining either the El Explorador or Los Aztecas half-program.
El Explorador and Los Aztecas are the two 15-night sections of our flagship 30-night summer program. El Explorador comes first, followed by Los Aztecas, with the two courses running consecutively.
We recommend the full 30-night experience for students who want to maximize their Spanish immersion. Staying for the entire program gives you twice as much time to develop your Spanish, settle into Mexican life and experience the full range of cultural activities and excursions offered across both courses.
Yes. You can join either El Explorador or Los Aztecas as a standalone 15-night Spanish immersion course. This provides a shorter option for students who cannot commit to the full 30-night program.
The summer courses include a range of Mexican cultural and language immersion activities. Depending on which 15-night program you join, these can include a Mexican cookery class, Latin dance, Aztec-style ceramics and a visit to the Aztec pyramid of Teopanzolco.
The summer program includes excursions to some of central Mexico’s most interesting destinations. Depending on the section of the course you attend, destinations include Tepoztlán, Las Estacas, Malinalco and Xochimilco, giving students the opportunity to explore beyond Cuernavaca.
Students typically have three hours of Spanish classes each weekday morning, providing structured language learning alongside the cultural immersion activities and excursions that take place throughout the program.
The program includes Spanish classes, carefully vetted accommodation with a trusted Mexican host, daily breakfasts, airport pickup, transportation for included activities and excursions, a pre-arrival Needs Analysis session, 24/7 support from the Iguana Abroad team and a certificate of course completion.
